The bipartisan delegation of Sen. Joe Fain of Auburn, and Reps. Mark Hargrove, R-Covington, and Pat Sullivan, D-Covington, heard from citizens at two town halls in the 47th Legislative District on Saturday. The first, at Cutter’s Point coffee shop in Covington, consisted of a roundtable discussion of legislative issues. The second, at the Auburn School District board room, focused solely on education-related issues.
Fain said he was pleased with the turnout and the questions and suggestions brought by his constituents, adding that he was committed to conducting an in-person town hall meeting after a successful telephone town hall in February.
“While the political mood across the nation may be highly polarized and contentious,” Fain continued, “we were able to bring together hundreds of people from the 47th District – many with different or conflicting ideologies – for an afternoon of productive and positive discourse.
Residents who were unable to attend the meetings are invited to call, write or send an e-mail with their questions and concerns. Fain can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-888-786-0598.
